New Super Bowl Legends today: Vernon Davis (set), Bruce Smith (pack) and Mean Joe Greene (Trial)

Todays new Super Bowl Legends include Vernon Davis (set, +1 str), Bruce Smith (pack) and Mean Joe Greene as the trial player. This does mark a significant inclusion of an an TE into the legends class in this years game. The TE position has been severely lacking, but mainly because no card will be able to replace Domination Gronkowski. Vernon Davis could be a possibility in the slot-position, but many players do prefer Game Changer Sammy Watkins in that position and the +1 str boost is not something that increases the cards significance. If you're a newer player, Vernon Davis could be a good player to have at your TE position until you can get Domination Gronkowski, but Signature Tony Gonzales is a much cheaper option for that.
This selection of both Vernon Davis and Bruce Smith is very confusing for most people who are aware of the history of Super Bowl. Vernon Davis is going to play his second Super Bowl on Sunday, having lost his first with the 49ers. Bruce Smith was part of the 4-in-a-row almost-dynasty Buffalo team, which never could win the big one. Clearly at this point, EA has not been able to secure the rights for many of the players would fit the mold for this occasion, like a Joe Montana or Steve Young, so they're rebranding the players they already have under contract. It is severely disappointing that EA could not make a larger unveiling of an event of this magnitude and it questions how good the promotions will be in the off-season.
